Christina Collier

Christine Collier was born in Oxford and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Frama with Walther Gruner. She has appeared in many West End shows, one of her favourites being Barnum playing the role of Jenny Lind opposite Michael Crawford at the Victoria Palace. This production was later filmed.

Other musical roles she has played include Eliza in My Fair Lady, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance at Drury Lane, Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, staged at Stratford East and Newcastle upon Tyne and Lydia in Bashville at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. At the Sydmonton Festival, one of the most prestigious events of the year, Christina portrayed the role of Doria in Cafe Puccini. Operetta appearances have included Peep Bo in The Mikado, Celia in Iolanthe, and Diana in Orpheus in the Underworld. She has performed at the Camden Festival playing Constance in Cherubini's The Water Carrier and as the salesgirl in Der Silbersee by Kurt Weill.

Christine also starred in David Puttnam's film Mr. Love, cast as the young opera singer Esther. She has performed as a soloist in concerts at the Barbican and Royal Festival Halls in Songs from the Shows and with the Radio 2 show Friday Night is Music Night. Other concert performances have ranged from oratorio to cabaret. She has also recorded The Domine Deus from Poulenc's Gloria for The Torvill and Dean Ice Show. This record achieved gold disc status. Christina played the part of Christine in the original production of Ken Hill's Phantom of the Opera in 1984 and recently on tour around the U.K. and is delighted to be playing the role again. (1991)
