Peter Straker

Peter Straker first appeared at the Shatesbury Theatre playing Hud in the American musical Hair. He returns to this theatre in the title role of Ken Hill's Phantom of The Opera which he first performed at the Newcastle Playhouse, Wolverhampton Grand and, in 1984, the Theatre Royal Stratford East.

Other theatre credits include Shakespeare at the National Theatre, playing Lucio in Michael Rudman's Measure For Measure, Cauchon in Jeanne by Shirlie Roden at Sadler's Wells. Then at Paramount City he played a leading role with Richard O'Brien in an American Revue, The News directed by Kevin Williams and Cassius in Roger Rees's production of Julius Caesar at the Bristol Old Vic. In 1988 Peter appeared in the highly successful Blues In The Night at The Piccadilly Theatre and in 1989, another Ken Hill epic, The Wicked World of Bel Ami, again at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East. He went on to work at the Oldham Coliseum in Paul Kerryson's production of Hold Tight! It's 60's Night, which toured the country in 1989. He also appeared in the sequel Hot Stuff.

Television credits include Dev in the series Connie (Central), Aeneas in the South Bank Show's production of Dido and Aeneas and the lead in Colin Nutley's production of Da Silva Da Silva (Channel 4). In 1991 Peter played the role of Lilipoulala in Picture Palace/Channel 4's production of The Orchard House directed by Horace Ové.

He has performed in concert and cabaret at the Edinburgh Film Festival and in many theatres throughout the country and in Europe. He has also recorded four of his own albums, one of which ws produced by Freddie Mercury and has sung as guest artist on many different albums including one of the Alan Parsons Project L.P.s. He is currently completeing his first album in some ten years.
